FRESNO, Calif. - Brandon Bauman and Nick Swanson each shot a 4-over par 148 to tie for 30th-place, helping UC Santa Barabara to a tie for eighth-place after two rounds of the Nick Watney Invitational at Sunnyside Golf Course in Fresno on Monday.

Bauman and Swanson each carded a 2-over par 74 in each of the first two rounds of the season-opening tournament for the defending Big West Conference champion Gauchos. Tyler See was the third member of a bunched-up UCSB group as he will head to the third round with a 5-over par 149.

"Considering this is our first tournament of the year, I feel good about where we're at," said head coach Steve Lass. "This is a good tournament and we hope to improve even more tomorrow."

Sophomores Matt Moomjian and Brett Bennett were 8-over par and 9-over, respectively.

As a team, the Gauchos enter the final day tied for eighth-place. UCSB and San Diego are three shots back of Pacific for seventh-place.

Play resumes for the final round at 8:00 am on Tuesday in Fresno.
