Gaucho Sports Marketing

Marketing/Promotion interns are the face of UCSB Athletics. They interact with fans and the public constantly and therefore must be professional, friendly, and have an enthusiastic attitude for promoting Gaucho athletic events. Marketing/Promotion interns will gain valuable hands on experience in marketing and fan development and learn the behind-the-scenes of a collegiate athletic event. In the year long internship interns will work extensively in promoting our ticketed sports through the fall, winter, and spring terms while trying to improve attendance, the gameday fan experience, and generate revenue for the Athletic Department.

Athletics Communications interns are the public relations agents for Gaucho Athletics.  The interns have the opportunity interact with athletes, coaches, administrators and members of the media.  They must be professional, detail oriented and have the ability to write.  The Communications office oversees and manages all of the information and statistical content on, the department’s official website. Interns can be assigned sports and will be responsible for the public relations needs of those sports, including press releases, post-game recaps and feature stories. Interns will also have the opportunity to attend and work at numerous athletic events throughout the year and help us grow our department's and our teams' social media presence. Past Athletics Communications interns have continued their careers in professional sports, collegiate sports and professional public relations firms.

Video Production

Video Production interns will primarily assist with the filming of UCSB sporting events along with the subsequent editing and archiving of this footage. Footage will be used to create weekly highlight packages, television commercials, fundraising campaigns, promotions, and awards banquets for the UCSB Athletics Department. Interns will also help set up and run the livestream of UCSB sporting events.
Interns may also have the opportunity to hone their journalistic skills with assistance from the Media Relations Department by conducting player/coach interviews and writing feature articles that accompany a feature video.

Working for the Development Office in UCSB Athletics (The Gaucho Fund) will allow for interns to gain experience in event management, marketing/sales, and customer relations. Interns will have the opportunity to assist in planning events of all sizes from start to finish and also to assist in generating revenue for the annual fund, an integral component to the Athletic Department’s success.  This position allows individuals frequent contacts with donors of every level and therefore interns must be professional, friendly and represent Gaucho Athletics in a good light.

Women's Soccer Marketing Internship

Working for the UCSB Soccer Office in UCSB Athletics will allow for interns to gain experience in event management, marketing/sales, and customer service. Interns will have the opportunity to assist in planning events of all sizes and work with all levels of ICA staff. Interns must be professional, friendly and represent Gaucho Athletics in a good light.

Men's Soccer Office

This is a quarter-long intern position. The individual will assist the Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator in the supervision of community outreach programs, development and implementation of marketing plans, and increasing support and attendance for Men's Soccer games. The intern will also be involved with influencing and cultivating interest in student, community and youth soccer clubs throughout the Fall 2019 season. In addition, the fall interns should be able to attend Men's Soccer games and special events throughout the Fall 2019 season. Interested applicants should email a cover letter and resume

Men's Water Polo Internship

Water Polo interns assist the coaching staff with various responsibilities including: social media, marketing, travel, equipment, clock management, game course set up, game day (set up, tear down, clock management, books, exclusion board), filming and statistical analysis. We are looking for individuals who are detail oriented, and those who can manage multiple tasks at once, and be available for travel/practice hours. Interns experience a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to run a successful Division I Water Polo program. Resumes welcome, this is a year round position.

Athletic Training

The UCSB Athletic Training Student Internship Program is dedicated to enhancing the educational experiences fo students interested in entering the health care profession.  Education for the athletic training students is the main goal.  Students will not only be exposed to the academic aspects of athletic training, but also to the clinical aspects of the profession.

Students will be expected to work in the athletic training facility and in the classroom.  Each student is expected to treat the athletic training facility as a work place.  Students will be actvitely involved in the daily happenings of the athletic training room. Students will be required to commit to a minimum of one year in the program.

Game Management Staff

Game management staff will work all home UCSB athletic events. They are responsible for making sure that all fans abide by venue policies and help fans with any needs they may have. Job duties include ticket taking, ushering, checking student IDs, and working the player pass list or will call table. Game management staff will gain valuable experience in event management and customer service. Pay is $12/hour.
