ST. GEORGE, UT – The UC Santa Barbara men's swimming team set two pool records at the Human Performance Center on Day Two of the Dixie State Invitational Friday. Freshman Matt Driscoll swam the 100 Back in 47.25, while the relay team of Kian Brouwer, Driscoll, Dominic Falcon, and Austin Sparrow set another pool record in the 800 Free Relay (6:30.08).
The men remain in first place with 724.5 points and hold an 86-point lead over second-place BYU. Santa Barbara's women's squad dropped to fourth place and have 362.5 points.
Falcon finished second in the 400 IM (3:50.62) while freshman Austin Sparrow accomplished the same feat in the 200 Free (1:36.77). Brouwer, Kyle Brill, and Jackson Mason each contributed third-place finishes, Brouwer in the 100 Fly (47.47), Brill in the 400 IM (3:51.93), and Mason in the 100 Breast (54.84). Dan Marella touched fourth in the 400 IM (3:55.79) while Corban McIntosh was fourth in the 100 Breast (54.91). The second through fourth finishers in the 400 IM were all Gauchos.
In the 200 Medley Relay, Santa Barbara's "A" team finished third in the 200 Medley Relay (1:27.75) while the "B" team touched fifth (1:29.32).
On the women's side, Regan Nibarger continued a strong meet, taking the second-place spot in the 200 Free (1:51.17). Dora Seggelke earned a fourth-place finish in the 100 Fly (54.54). Sophie Ryan and Molly McCance each added sixth-place finishes, Ryan in the 400 IM (4:26.39) and McCance in the 200 Free (1:51.86).
The final day of the Dixie State Invite is tomorrow, with prelims beginning at 10:00 a.m.
