Santa Barbara, Calif.- On Wednesday afternoon, the MPSF conference announced UC Santa Barbara's very own Kyle Brill as the MPSF/TYR Male Athlete of the Week. This is Brill's first MPSF weekly honor.
At the Dixie State Invitational this past weekend, the sophomore from Santa Clarita totaled three MPSF season-bests and NCAA 'B' cuts, taking first in all of these events. Brill posted 1:43.11 in the 200 Back, 1:45.27 in the 200 IM, and 3:46.74 for the 400 IM. He also swam a personal best of 1:58.77 for a third-place finish as well as a 1:37.13 split for the first-place 800 Free Relay team.
As a freshman, Brill had a dominant season, ending as the MPSF champion in the 200 IM and 200 Back as well as taking second place in the 400 IM. He will be a key part of the men's team as the squad looks towards a title at MPSF Championships and beyond.
