Guillin Named ITA Southwest Region Most Improved Senior

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Senior co-captain Joseph Guillin was named Intercollegiate Tennis Associatiion Southwest Region Most Improved Senior, the organization announced Monday.

Guillin, a transfer from the University of Florida, is the second consecutive Gaucho to win the Most Improved honor following Nicolas Moreno de Alboran's selection in 2019.

The recognition for Guillin, who reached an ITA National singles ranking of No. 8 last fall and is the only UCSB player in history to win the Southwest Regional singles title, is further evidence of the great job being done by Associate Head Coach Blake Muller who was named ITA Assistant Coach of the Year (for the second time) in 2019.  No coach's awards were given in this year's shortened Covid season.

Although a senior, Guillin will have the opportunity to return in 2020-21 as the NCAA allows senior athletes in spring sports to compete for an additional campaign.
