SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (Jan 21, 2023) — UC Santa Barbara men's tennis continued their perfect start to the season on Saturday, defeating Grand Canyon, 4-0, and Portland State, 7-0, at Arnhold Tennis Center. The Gauchos move to 5-0 on the season and have not dropped a set at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED VS. GCU
The Gauchos got off to a strong start in the morning match, winning the doubles point thanks to 6-2 victories from Kai Brady and Pablo Masjuan on court two and Phillip Jordan and Conrad Brown on court three.
UCSB kept rolling in singles, with Brown winning on court five to give the Gauchos an early 2-0 lead in the match. Gianluca Brunkow made it 3-0 with a win on court two and Phillip Jordan clinched the match and the sweep with a victory on court number one.
HOW IT HAPPENED VS. PORTLAND STATE
It was more of the same in the afternoon action, with Brady and Lucca Liu winning on court three and Brunkow and Alexander Watanabe Eriksson doing the same on court one to secure the doubles point.
From there, UCSB swept through the singles matches, with all six Gauchos taking victories in straight sets. Newcomer Pierre Boullenger earned his first win as a Gaucho on court six.
UC Santa Barbara heads to San Antonio for their next matches, taking on the University of New Orleans on February 4 and UTSA on February 5. Both matches will be held at the UTSA Tennis Center and will begin at 9 a.m. Pacific Time.
