STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 8 UC Santa Barbara men's water polo team ended its second weekend of play with a 12-7 road defeat at No. 4 Stanford on Sunday.

The Gauchos are now 3-3 through six games while the Cardinal improves to 6-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Goalscorers: Chambliss (3), Brosnan (2), Redoutey, Sutter

In what was a low-scoring start to the game, Stanford took the initial lead a little more than three minutes in. A second straight Cardinal goal soon after was answered by UCSB's first goal of the day from Ryan Brosnan at the 2:28 mark of the opening period.

Logan Sutter opened the second quarter with a goal to tie it 2-2. Brosnan scored his second of the day several minutes later to equalize at 3-3.

Stanford scored the next three goals to end the half leading 6-3. Mason Chambliss scored the first two goals of the second half to bring UCSB within one, 6-5, but that's the closest the visitors would get the rest of the way.

Luke Redoutey found the net late in the third and Chambliss secured a hat trick in the fourth, but the Cardinal pulled away in the fourth to win it 12-7.
