2017 Cross Country
Ran five meets for his second cross season. Took 23rd place at the Highlander Invitational running 18:31.7 as the No. 4 scorer on the day. Took 33rd place at the Conference Championships with a time of 25:39.6.
Donned the blue and gold for a second season to compete in eight meets. Started things off with a win at the Gaucho Round-Up in the 800m, clocking 1:55.50. James would go on to capture three more collegiate wins throughout the season in the 800m at the All-UC Meet, the UC Riverside Highlander Invitational, and topping it off at the Cal Poly Dual Meet, hitting a then season's best of 1:52.75. Finished off the season with a great performance once again at the Big West Conference Championships in the 800m, finishing fourth with a new personal best of 1:52.04, just .24 seconds off a podium placing.
2016 Cross Country
Competed in six meets for his debut cross season. Opened up at the Lagoon Meet with a 26:24.9 for 8k. Dropped over a full minute off that time to set a new season's best of 25:13.7 at the Stanford Invitational. Came back two weeks later to set a personal best at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational to run 25:09.1. Finished 32nd at his first Big West Conference Championships for cross, just outside of team scoring, finishing number six for the team. Concluded the season with a 32:47.6 at the NCAA West Regional Meet for his first ever 10k.
Competed in eight meets for the Gauchos in an impressive Gaucho debut season. Improved over three seconds at the 800m distance which culminated in a sixth place finish at the Big West Conference Championships.
2015 Cross Country
Douglass had a breakthrough senior year at Shorewood HS in Wisconsin....was Woodland Conference Champion with a time of 1:57.30....ended the season placing third at the Wisconsin State Meet in Division Two, setting a best of 1:55.76. Coached by Dominic "Coach Dom" Newman.
Parents are Marie and Cameron Douglass...Double majoring in Biochemistry and Mathematical Sciences...career goals are to attend an MD/PhD graduate program and become a research physician in neurology...athletic goals are to break 1:50 in the 800m and score top ten in the conference for cross country, as well as contribute to the team to become conference champions in his remaining two years at UCSB...hobbies include surfing, research, music, reading, and volunteering at Cottage Hospitals and for Doctors Without Walls...fun fact: eats a whole cucumber after every run.
