Cross Country Teams Head To Riverside Invite

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Sept. 16, 2022) – The UC Santa Barbara men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action tomorrow, Sept. 17, as they compete in the Riverside Invite hosted by Big West competitor UC Riverside. The last race for the Gauchos was on Sept. 3 when they hosted the Lagoon Invite right here in Santa Barbara. The women's team won the whole meet with Sierra Ransweiler finishing second overall. On the men's side, the team finished in second with a first-place win from freshman Ethan Godsey, who beat the second-place finisher by 17 seconds.

Since their last race, the team traveled to Ojai, California, for a training trip, where both the men's and women's teams trained together for one week, getting faster and even closer than before.

Both teams will face tough opponents in this upcoming meet. On the women's side, Cal Baptist, who received votes in the most recent USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll, will be in the field along with numerous Big West opponents. They will also other well-known programs like Arizona, Cal, USC and Pepperdine, to name a few. The men will compete against a very similar list of teams as they work to improve from their last meet.

The races begin at 7:15 a.m. with the women's 6K followed by the men's 8K at 7:50 a.m. Results will be posted on Finished Results at the end of each race.
