• The Gaucho Rewind: Gameday 13
G13: UCSB 72, Ottawa (Ariz.) 57 - The Gauchos took down the NAIA-based Ottawa Spirit after shooting 47.4% on the night, led by Ila Lane's eighth double-double of the season and Coco Miller's career-high 14 assists as UCSB claimed its fifth win of the season.
• Scouting the Opposition: Cal State Fullerton
The Titans enter Big West Conference play with the best record in the league, sporting an 8-5 mark through 13 games played. Raina Perez checks in as the leading scorer in the conference and holder of the NCAA's seventh-best mark with 22.5 points per game. In terms of common opponents, Fullerton claimed wins over Grand Canyon and Cal Baptist, while losing to San Diego State.
• Scouting the Opposition: Cal Poly
Though just 11 games, Cal Poly holds a 3-8 record with wins against Sacramento State, Lamar, and Holy Names on its resume. The Mustangs have the second-worst offense in the league, scoring an average of 58.4 points per game. In addition, they sport the third-worst scoring margin in the conference with -7.64. However, Sierra Campisano has been a bright spot for UCSB's Central Coast rivals, ranking second with 17 points per matchup.
• Double-Double Watch Continues
In 13 games played, freshman center Ila Lane has put together eight double-doubles, good for most among Division I freshman players. She put together four-straight games with a double-double from Nov. 15 against San Jose State to Nov. 26 vs. San Diego State. She fell just one rebound short of making it five in a row against Stephen F. Austin, but she bounced back with yet another big 20 point, 10 rebound statline in UCSB's win against Chicago State. Her success earned her her first Big West Player of the Week award on Dec. 2. With her 20-rebound performance at Cal Baptist on Nov. 23, she set the record for most rebounds in a single-game by a freshman and landed in a tie for seventh place on the program's individual single-game rebounds list. Currently, Lane is third in the country with 12.8 rebounds per game.
• A Century of Assists
Redshirt senior guard Tal Sahar recorded the hundredth assist of her career in UCSB's loss against Pacific on Dec. 5. Earlier in the season, she set a new career-high in scoring with 22 points on Dec. 1 against Chicago State in the Nugget Classic tournament.
Coco Miller Surpasses 1,000-Point Mark
In last week's game against Pacific, Coco Miller's triple with 7:39 left in regulation made her the 27th member of the 1,000-point club in program history in her 102nd career game. She became the first to surpass the mark since both Nicole Nesbit and Melissa Zornig completed the feat in 2014.
Danae Miller Nears 500
Danae Miller is just four points away from 500 in her career. The junior point guard had a 31-point performance this season, one of just seven 30+ games amongst Big West players, come against San Jose State on Nov. 15.
• Henrickson Approaches 400
UCSB head coach Bonnie Henrickson is just four wins away from her 400th career win. Now in her 23rd season, Henrickson has enjoyed a successful career across three different schools and four different conferences.
