LORETTO, Pa. – Freshman Sydney Magnin scored her first two career goals and Kate Shoemaker added one of her own as UC Santa Barbara piled-up a 3-0 lead and then held on for a 3-2 win at St. Francis (Pa.) on Sunday morning.

The win was UCSB's fourth in a row and it extended the Gauchos' unbeaten streak to five straight games. They are now 4-2-1.

"This was a very good weekend for us," said head coach Paul Stumpf. "It's always tough to win at this level, but especially on the road and so far from home. This was also a good weekend because of how much experience our younger players received."

UCSB started five freshmen in Sunday's game.

Magnin scored her first goal at the 4:00 mark when she took a centering pass from Mallory Hromatko on the left wing, dribbled in and beat goalkeeper Abby Collins on the right side.

The Gauchos made it 2-0 in the ninth minute. Dakota Griggs pounded a corner kick and Shoemaker was there to meet it, heading it past Collins for the score.

Magnin scored her second goal at 33:07 when she scored on one-touch at the near post off of a corner kick by Ana Cruz

The Red Flash cut the advantage to 3-2 on pair of second half goals by Sara Suler. Suler scored her first at 56:42 after of a defensive giveaway at the top of the box. She beat UCSB goalkeeper Beth Ritter at the lower left of the goal.

Suler's second score came at 72:58 when she deflected a shot by Allison LaDuke from straightaway.

As has been the case in most of the matches in 2015, Santa Barbara dominated its opponent, outshooting St. Francis by a margin of 27-8, including 11-5 on frame. Griggs led the way with seven shots. UCSB also had the advantage in corner kicks, 9-2.

The Gauchos will return home to host a pair of matches next weekend. On Friday, Sept. 18 they play Montana in a 5:00 p.m. match that will be the first game of a doubleheader with the men's team. On Sunday, Sept. 20, UCSB hosts Dayton at 1:00 p.m. on Meredith Field at Harder Stadium.
