Gauchos Drop First Conference Game Against Mustangs

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (Sept. 15, 2022) – UC Santa Barbara Women's Soccer hit the road for its first Big West game of the season as it took on the Mustangs of Cal Poly. Following this intense battle in the Blue-Green Rivalry, the Mustangs were the ones come out on top, resulting in a 4-0 loss for UCSB.

HOW IT HAPPENED
As always, the game between these two rivals was nothing short of exciting with both teams' demanding style of play. But in the 13th minute, the Mustangs grabbed their first goal of the game, causing the Gauchos to play from behind early in this first half. The defense increased its pressure to keep Cal Poly from pushing through the back line, keeping the score at 1-0 heading into the half.

Once both teams were back on the field, it was the Mustangs who came out strong yet again. Cal Poly added another three goals to the stat sheet by the end of this 90 minutes, resulting in the 4-0 loss for the Gauchos.
