SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The second day of the NorCal Kickoff yielded a pair of losses for the Gauchos, dropping their early morning game 7-2 to Cal Baptist before falling 8-0 against Boise State on Saturday afternoon at Shea Stadium.

Cal Baptist 7, UCSB 2

The Gauchos were held scoreless throughout the first five innings, as Cal Baptist struck twice in the first inning and didn't look back, dealing UCSB its second loss of the season.

A two-run home run got the Lancers on the board in the top of the first, as their OP MacKenzie Budinger hit the first pitch to left field, scoring second baseman Abby Robertson.

Cal Baptist tacked on some more runs in the fourth inning, first through a sac bunt from shortstop Ali Belloc that got pinch runner Makenna Stram across the plate, and then with a three-run double to right center from third baseman Brittany Galvez. Those two plays extended CBU's lead to 6-0 after the fourth frame.

UCSB got on the board in the bottom of the sixth when redshirt senior first baseman Sierra Altmeyer slammed a two-out two-run double to left center, bringing in senior second baseman Carissa Felix and junior left fielder Sammy Fabian and cutting the lead to 6-2.

An RBI sac fly off the bat of CBU's Budinger gave the Lancers the final run of the game in the top of the seventh as the game ended with a 7-2 victory.

Boise State 8, UCSB 0

UCSB kept it close with Boise State for the first four innings, but the Broncos exploded for two big home runs in a seven-run fifth inning to run-rule the Gauchos after five frames.

In the bottom of the first inning with two outs on the board, catcher Serena Huchingson drove in first baseman Alison Seng with a single to short, putting Boise State up 1-0.

With two outs and runners on at second and third in the fifth inning, center fielder Ashlyn Adams hit a three-run home run to right field that pushed the Broncos' lead to 4-0.

A single and two walks later, Huchingson walked off the game with a four-run homer to center field, giving the Broncos the 8-0 victory.
