LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara softball team suffered its fourth loss in a row as it fell 10-2 to Loyola Marymount on Friday afternoon at Smith Field.

The Lions led after scoring three runs in the bottom of the second, with the first one coming after a fielding error allowed for Andrea Gonzalez to come across the plate.

In the following at-bat, Megan Dedrick hit a two-run home run to put LMU up 3-0.

The Gauchos answered back with two runs in the top of the third inning, when junior left fielder Sammy Fabian singled through the right side and scored freshman third baseman Korie Thomas, and then freshman DP Ashley Donaldson brought in freshman shortstop Madelyn McNally on a groundout after junior first baseman Rayna Cohen earned a walk and loaded the bases.

In the bottom half of the frame, LMU increased its lead to 6-2 after Allisha Martinez batted in three runs on a double to left center field.

The scoring continued in the fourth inning for the Lions as the hosts scored four runs on a steal, wild pitch, and two singles.

The game ended after the top of the fifth inning due to the run-rule.

McNally led the Gauchos with a 2-for-3 day, while Donaldson, freshman right fielder Denehy, Fabian, and Thomas recorded a single hit apiece.

The Gauchos begin Big West play next weekend, playing a four-game series at Hawai'i beginning on Friday. Live stat and live stream information will be available early next week.
