NORTHRIDGE, Calif.- With four Gauchos in play this weekend, the UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team will travel down to Northridge, Calif. for the CSUN Matador Classic to cap off their fall tournament matches.

Senior Captain Stephanie Yamada spearheads a veteran Gaucho attack as each player competing over the weekend is a junior or older. Yamada is paired up with Dominika Paterova who is returning from a two-week injury stint.

"I think we both understand doubles so when we're playing together the chemistry on the court is good," grinned Paterova. "I have no pain and I've been practicing since Monday so I'm ready to go... I've been working with my forehand a lot; we want to make it even with my backhand."

Yamada-Paterova reside in the Doubles A bracket and will compete against the University of Pacific pairs team comprised of senior Anneroos Nederstigt and sophomore Dohee Lee. Lee posted an overall 4-11 record in doubles last season while Nederstigt went 2-15 in her doubles matches as a junior.

Also competing in the Doubles A bracket, junior Juliana Valero teams up with third-year Amit Lev-Ari who will play against freshman Jolene Coetzee and senior Monika Van de Vondel from Cal State Northridge. Van de Vondel posted a 9-6 doubles record good for the most doubles wins on the Matador's roster. The senior was also named to Second Team All-Big West in both singles and doubles.

All four Gauchos will also compete in the Singles A bracket. With first serve at 11:30 a.m on Friday morning, Valero is matched up against BYU sophomore Madeline Almeida who went 16-10 in singles competition last season.

Amit-Lev Ari is set to face UCR freshman Mahli Silpachai while fellow junior Dominika Paterova shifts her focus to San Jose State sophomore Savannah Sendar. Sendar had an 18-7 overall singles record last season in her first year as a Spartan.

To round out the Gauchos lineup, Stephanie Yamada will take on BYU sophomore Anastasia Abramyan who posted a 16-13 singles record in her freshman season.

UCSB will compete over the weekend in Northridge, Calif. as doubles play will start off Friday morning at 9 a.m. while singles matches kick off at 11:30 a.m. You can follow the Gauchos as they compete over the weekend here on Instagram @ucsbwtennis.
