Fullerton, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara completed a season sweep of Cal State Fullerton on Friday night with a three-set victory at Titan Gym. Set scores were 25-16, 25-22, 25-17.
Redshirt sophomore outside hitter Lindsey Ruddins was the Gauchos' offensive leader in the win, landing 26 kills – good for half of the team's total – with just three errors for a .434 hitting percentage. The Laguna Niguel, Calif. native added 15 digs for her team-leading 10th double-double of the season.
UCSB (8-18, 7-7 Big West) finished with a .285 team hitting percentage, easily outclassing the Titans' (5-23, 1-14 Big West) .128 clip.
Other Gauchos with standout nights included libero Emilia Petrachi, who had a match-high 27 digs in the affair, setter Annie Hasselmann, who notched 40 assists and extended her Lantagne Welch-era UCSB record with an ace in her 13th straight match, and Kjia Rivers, who followed up a Big West Freshman of the Week nomination with seven kills on .263 hitting alongside three blocks.
CSF meanwhile was paced by Madeline Schneider, who led her squad with a dozen kills. She was one of just two Titan hitters that had more than two kills and finished with a hitting percentage over .100.
UCSB maintained control of the match throughout. After the Titans claimed the first point of the contest, UCSB stormed back to take the lead and never trailed again at any point throughout the tilt.
Led by 12 kills from Ruddins alone, UCSB put forth its best effort in the middle set, registering a match-high .348 hitting percentage.
The Gauchos previously defeated Cal State Fullerton on Sept. 23 at the Thunderdome, with similarly dominant performances from Ruddins (22 kills, .450 hitting) and Petrachi (28 digs, the most by a Big West player in three sets this season).
