  • Despite hitting just .032 in the first set, UCSB never trailed thanks in part to nine service errors by the Highlanders. After falling behind 15-11, UCR chipped away until it tied the frame up at 17-17, but the Gauchos were quick to respond closing it out on an 8-3 run.
  • UCSB went errorless in the second set posting a ridiculous 16-0-22 (.727) line as a team and never trailed or allowed the Highlanders to tie it jumping out to a 15-4 lead. The lead grew to as much at 14 at the final point as Froley went for five kills on six kills.
  • UCR responded in the third taking an early 6-3 lead which held until UCSB knotted it at 12-12. A 7-4 run by the Gauchos saw them take a late lead that they would hold for the rest of the final frame. Peed ended the match on an ace.
