The 2017 track season would come to be Hinkle's strongest year not only on the conference level, but at the regional and national level as well. In March alone, Hinkle would go on to set personal bests five times in four different events, the 800m (2:09.66), 3000m (9:46.71), 5000 (16:53.79), and the 1500m (4:16.62), the 1500m coming along with a huge win over a national caliber field at the Stanford Invitational and a school record. She would go on two set two more personal bests in the 800m, lowering it to 2:09.41 and then to 2:07.76. Garnered a 1st place finish in the 1500m at the Big West Conference Championships, her first ever conference title, and also took home 2nd in the 800m just over an hour later. Despite it being her first time at the regional meet for track, Hinkle went through the rounds with the tactics of a wily veteran, taking an automatic qualifying spot on the first day to the final, and then doing so again for the final with a blistering 62 second last lap, giving her the right to compete at the NCAA Track and Field Championships for the first time, becoming the only female Gaucho to ever qualify for nationals in the 1500m. Her season would conclude with a 10th place finish in her semi-final at the national meet, finishing 19th overall in the country.
