2017 Cross Country
Did not compete in uniform. Ran unattached at the UC Riverside Invitational where she'd place 98th in 22:05.2 for 6k. Also ran 18:22.6 at the Titan Invitational where she finished 8th.
Took to the track eight times for her second season in the Gaucho uniform. Dropped a huge personal best in the mile by running 4:56.14 at the Ben Brown Invitational with a convincing win over the field. Squeezed in another personal best at the Aztec Invitational in the 1500m by running 4:34.99. Placed 10th in the Big West Conference Championships 1500m to finish up the season.
2016 Cross Country
Did not compete.
Competited in eight competitions for the Gauchos. Started off her debut season with a win at the Gaucho Round-Up by winning the full mile in 5:08.34. Lowered her seasonal bests in the 800 and 1500 at the 38th Annual Aztec Invitational, running 2:20.68 and 4:51.94 respectively. Chopped off a good six seconds off her seasonal best once more in the 1500 by placing 5th at the Big West Challenge Cup in 4:44.76. Took almost another five seconds off that time only a week later by placing 4th in her heat at the Bryan Clay Invitational in 4:39.82. Took a win in her heat of the 800 at the 2016 Oxy Invitational by running 2:13.92, setting a seasonal best in that event as well. Topped off the season with a big performance at the Big West Conference Championships by placing 5th in the 1500 with a personal best of 4:35.00, cutting off almost another five seconds from her seaonal best set a month prior.
2015 Cross Country
Janes comes to UCSB via distance powerhouse Saugus HS where she was mentored by renowned coach Renee Paragas. Janes broke onto the California running scene her freshman year by winning the Foothill League title in the 800m. She continued her development as a sophomore, racing her way to the CIF State Championships where she set a lifetime best in the event at 2:11.98, placing seventh in the final. As a junior, Janes made the move up to the longer events, trying her hand at the 1600m and 3200m. The move paid off. She won the Great Oak Distance Festival in the 1600m with a 4:55.44 best and placed fourth in the Addidas Meet of Champions with a 10:50.64 3200m best. As a junior she also placed 13th at the CIF State Cross Country Championships with an 18:06 PR 5,000m. As a senior she lowered her 1600m best to 4:55.21 at the Azusa Distance Meet of Champions, taking the win with her effort.
Parents are Kurt and Gaby...Has two siblings, Katie and Justin...Major is Undeclared...Also played soccer in high school...Enjoys wakeboarding, hiking and swimming...Favorite band is Florida Georgia Line...Most memorable athletic achievement was her team qualifying for Nike Cross Nationals.
